Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team) will make his European debut in this 2016 season on Monday at the Volta a Catalunya, first of three stage races – Vuelta al País Vasco (April 4-9), Tour de Romandie (April 26-May 1) – which the Colombian, podium finisher (3rd) in the Tour de San Luis and fourth-placed in last February's Colombian road race championships, will tackle during this spring.
At the seven-day Catalan event – no TTs in its route, mountain finishes in La Molina (Wednesday 23) and Port Ainé (Thursday 24) set to decide the final outcome – Quintana will be joined by fellow countrymen Winner Anacona and Dayer Quintana. The eight-man group is completed by Javi Moreno, Rubén Fernández, Imanol Erviti, José Herrada and local rider Marc Soler, with José Luis Arrieta and José Luis Laguía as sports directors.
