Rafael Valls will be on the start line of the Paris-Nice tomorrow unless something unexpected happens at the last minute. The Spaniard had fallen ill but since his health has not worsened and he has left for Paris to join the rest of his Lampre-Merida team.

Valls has had a moderately good night and he and his team have decided to take the start. "At least I don't have a fever, and I'm at the airport leaving for Paris," the Tour of Oman winner told BiciCiclismo.

On Friday, the climber had a sore throat and suffered from malaise.Then he started an antibiotic treatment which seems to have had its effect. His presence in Paris-Nice depended on how she spent the night and he feared that we would have a  fever.

At the Race to the Sun, he will support his leader Rui Costa and the rest of the team will be made up of Niccolo Bonifazio, Matteo Bono, Davide Cimolai, Mario Costa, Nelson Oliveira and Ruben Plaza. However, he knows that his physical condition is not the best, at least in the beginning of the race. "It is not very good to start a race like Paris-Nice without feeling good," he told Biciciclismo yesterday.

Valls, 27 and in his seventh professional season, was the surprise in Oman where he beat van Garderen and Valverde on the Green Mountain to claim the overall win.
