Adrien Petit took his third stage win at the Tropicale Amissa Bongo in today's 4km time trial and took over the overall lead from Eritrean Tesfom Okubamariam who lost 21 seconds on this stage.
The French Direct Ernergie rider now has a 12-second advantage over Italian Andrea Palini and 14 seconds on Anthony Delaplace in the overall standings before the last stage in the streets of Libreville.
"I know that nothing is ever over until the finish," he said on the podium. "Tomorrow it will still be very close. We will have to keep an eye on Andrea Palini from the first to the last kilometer. We have to stay focused on the final day to bring home the final victory."
Adrien Petit also joined the record holders of stage wins at the Tropicale Amissa Bongo as Belarusian Yauheni Hutarovich and Belgian Frédéric Robert also have four stage wins on the palmares His manager Jean-Rene Bernaudeau also seeks a sixth victory in the overall standings after Anthony Charteau (2010,2011,2012), Yohann Gene (2013) and Natnael Berhane (2014).
