Blanco sprinter Mark Renshaw took his first win of the season in the Clásica Almeria to continue the impressive start to the season made by Team Blanco.
He outsprinted Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg (Argos-Shimano) and Francesco Lasca (Caja-Rural Seguros) to the finish line. Renshaw’s win is the ninth victory for the Blanco Pro Cycling Team this season. The focus on developing lead-outs has gotten the sprint train on track, and Renshaw praised the teamwork after his win.
“In the team meeting we discussed the tactics for today,” Renshaw said following his win. “We would aim for a sprint. During the race it was always Juanma Garate and David Tanner looking after me. On the hills Robert Gesink, Bauke Mollema, Wilco Kelderman and Laurens ten Dam made sure there were not too many explosions. Stef Clement followed the moves in the peloton continuously, by chasing the breakaways. It was really impressive to have this level of riders helping me to the victory. It was a collective victory of the team.”
