French newspaper La Provence has reported that the Tour de France will include a summit finish on Mont Ventoux on Bastille Day in 2016. The course will be unveiled next week.
According to La Provence, the riders will start the stage in Montpellier and climb the legendary mountain from the usual side through the village of Bedoin.
Organizer ASO will present the route of the 2016 edition next Tuesday in Paris. For now, the only confirmed fact is that the race will start on July 2 in Mont-Saint-Michel, followed by two stages through Normandy.
If the report is confirmed, it will be the tenth time that a stage has finished on top of the Mont Ventoux. The last time, in 2013, Chris Froome took the win. The Briton later won that edition.
