Oleg Zemlyakov (1993, Vino4ever) is the latest Kazakh talent to join the elite ranks with Astana.
Zemlyakov crowned the 2015 season his win at the national championships in a year when he did no less than 89 days of competition, from the Philippines to China. In addition to his title, he was second in the Tour Szeklerland (2.2) and the Tour of Bulgaria (2.2), third in the GP Marbriers (1.2), 11th in the Tour de Taiwan (1.1), 18th in the Tour l'Ain ( 1.1), 20th in the Giro Valle d'Aosta (2.2) and best young rider in race like the Black Sea Cycling Tour (2.2), Okolo Slovenska (2.2) and the Tour of the Philippines (2.2). At the World Championships in Richmond, he made the world aware of himself by riding in the break. According to Sports.kz, the results have allowed him to get the ticket to the Astana WorldTour team.
The official confirmation is still missing but if he has indeed signed with Astana, he will be the third signing after Eros Capecchi (Movista Team) and Gatis Smukulis (Katusha). Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru will continue as leaders, while Mikel Landa (Sky), Rein Taaramae (Katusha) and Borut Bozic (Cofidis) will leave the team.
The continental Vino4ever has done a lot o racing in Asia and has achieved solid results. That has allowed Kazakhstan to finish second in the nations ranking of the UCI Asia Tour behind Iran.
