Enrique Sanz (1989) will leave Spain and is close to reaching an agreement with the Italian Southeast team for 2016 after five seasons at Movistar Team.
Sanz is a fast rider that could be used as a lead-out man for Jakub Mareczko (1994), the future star of Angelo Citracca's team who won 13 races this year. The Spaniard will provide useful WorldTour experience and will join his compatriiots Julen Amézqueta (Café Baqué-Campos) and Cristian Rodriguez (Caja Rural-RGA) and Colombian Daniel Martinez (Team Colombia) as new signings. Citracca also still hops to sign Filippo Pozzato.
Last Thursday Southeast received the license to continue as a Professional Continental team that has been registered as Tharcor. According to BiciCiclismo, they have opened the doors for the signing of Sanz for whom there was no room at Movistar Team. The interest is mutual and the parties just need to specify some details.
Sanz is a product of Manolo Azcona's Lizarte team and made the jump to the pro ranks in 2011 Since then he has been riding for Movistar where he has achieved numerous top 10 results, including a victory in the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid in his first year. In 2015 he was second in Madrid and Castilla y León. He has never done a grand tour but could get a chance as Southeast is expected to be invited for the Giro d'Italia due to their win in the Coppa Italia.
Movistar manager Eusebio Unzue is his uncle who has helped his nephew to continue his progression in a team where he can develop his potential.
