After a bad start to the year and a tough start to the race, Christophe Riblon (Ag2r) bounced back with a sixth place in stage 16 of the Tour de France.
"I knew that I would get better and better," he said. "The first part of the Tour de France was not great. I was disappointed. I do not ride my bike to be at the back and to be unable to follow the pack. I have bounced back.
"The third week arrives and every year that's where I am at my best. I felt that the form was coming.
"I know the finale in Gap by heart. I was already second here two years ago. It's the same story here, except that I'm sixth at the finish. I'm glad that it gives us hopes for the Alps. Romain [Bardet] was very good. It's nice to have a very strong leader, it pushes everyone.
"Jean-Christophe [Peraud] also finished the stage. Now his wounds will have time to heal and then he will do beautiful things in the Alps. An extensive menu awaits us but we are on the up."
Romain Bardet managed to stay with the best told reporters that his form is on the rise.
