After an 8-year absence, Ariel Maximiliano Richeze will return to the Giro d'Italia in 2015 which will be his third season with Lampre-Merida.
Richeze will start his season in Argentina at the Giro del Sol and his first UCI race will be the Tour de San Luis. From there, he will resume racing at the Tour of Qatar before he heads to Tirreno-Adriatico, Milan-Sanremo, several cobbled classics, the Tour de Romandie and the Giro d'Italia.
Richeze has two stage wins of the 2007 Giro d'Italia on his plamares due the disqualification of Alessandro Petacchi who tested positive for salbutamol. Since then, he has not been at the start of the Italian race. Last year he made his Tour de France deut and in both 2013 and 2014, he did the Vuelta a Espana.
In 2013, Richeze joined Lampre-Merida and the WorldTour after he had won the UCI America Tour in 2012. That year he finished second in no less than 8 times and was third another 6 times, taking notable results in races like the Vuelta and the Eneco Tour. Te signing of Sacha Modolo turned him into a lead-out man for 2014 and he excelled in his new role. He had his best personal results with a second place in the Tour of Turkey and a fourth place in San Luis.
