After Kenny Van Hummel has decided to retire, his former teammates have reacted strongly. Several riders have made it clear that they are very surprised by the fact that the former Androni riders has been unable to find a new team.

Kenny van Hummel has decided to retire. The 32-year-old Ducthman was unable to find a new team after Androni-Venezuela decided not to renew his contract.

"Much too early," Iljo Keisse reacted. Like many others, he expressed his surprise on Twitter. "Please, consider it very carefully," he added.

"Unbelievable that Kenny van Hummel has not been able to find a new team," writes former teammate Roy Curvers. "This guy brings a lot more than just results." 

Van Hummel is known as a team player. Therefore Ramon Sinkeldam had expected that the Dutchman would have signed with a Dutch team.

"That Roompot Orange Cycling has not signed him is incompehensible for me," he wrote. "If there is one person who can teach the young riders something, it's him!!" 

Lieuwe Westra who was Van Hummel's teammate at Vacansoleil-DCM with Van Hummel, asked teams to react.

"Teams, grab your chance to sign this guy! Every year he is a guarantee for victories. I cross my fingers for you."
