He made the jump to the second division, but skipped the cyclo-cross racing . Last winter was an important one for Christoph Pfingsten (Bora-Argon 18). But for the 27-year-old, this decision has paid off.
"My balance is positive. I think that I have developed myself in a good way in my first real professional season and I did my duties properly," he told radsport-news.com.
The former German Cyclo-Cross Champion got his best individual result with tenth place at Scheldeprijs (1.HC), but most his start in Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders were the highlights. "Those were two super tough races. They are monuments, and it was the highlight to experience them,” he said.
At Paris-Roubaix, however, Pfingsten does not only have good memories. "It was a disappointment that I could not finish the race. But I hope that I will get the opportunity next year," said the all-rounder who will also weast the jersey of Bora-Argon 18 in 2016.
Like last year, Pfingsten won’t do any cyclo-cross racing. "Honestly, I have to say that I urgently needed a break after the long road season. Of course, I like to ride cross races, but I've decided to focus on the roadand as long as I have the chance to ride on the road I will give 100 per cent to be successful there,” Pfingsten said.
He does not have a specific sporting goal for 2016. "I want to continuously develop myself every year. I think that there is more to come,” he said.
