Today the Tropical Amissa Bongo enters its sixth and penultimate stage, a circuit around the city of Port-Gentil. The stage was 126 km and pancake flat. Still a 19-rider breakaway was able to form in the final 30km of the stage, and held on till the finish line.
Belgian rider Frederique Robert from Wanty-Groupe Gobert was able to outsprint his breakaway companions, ahead of his teammate Jans and Moroccan rider Chaoufi. This is the third stage won by Wanty-Groupe Gobert team, each with a different rider. Frederique Robert was also a two stage winner in 2013 edition of the race.
In general classification, Luis Leon Sanchez held onto his slim one second lead over Egoitz Garcia, and Berhane is four seconds behind. The final stage tommorow is another pancake flat circuit race. It will be the last chance for Garcia and Berhane to overtake Sanchez with bonus seconds in play.
