The eleventh stage in the Giro d’Italia offers several possible outcomes. The course is almost entirely flat, but the final twenty kilometres have a hilly profile so the sprinters might not survive. It’s possible that the break stays away or that attempts will be made on the only obstacle of the day; a climb of the fourth category.

Jurgen Roelandts gives a preview of the stage.

“Yesterday, a tough climbing stage of 219 kilometres was scheduled. Today, the stage is eight kilometres longer. The course has a rather flat profile, although the finale will be too hard for the sprinters. I know the climb of the fourth category with the summit at twenty kilometres from the finish, it’s a steep one. I don’t think that a lot of teams are willing to control the race so a break can certainly remain ahead, especially when several riders with a large disadvantage on GC are in it. We will get a fast beginning of the stage as a lot of riders will try to be part of that breakaway.”
