Today’s stage of the Giro d'Italia can offer several possible outcomes. It will be a long day for the riders as 233 kilometres need to be covered. The course has a hilly profile so it’s possible that the break can stay ahead, but it’s also possible that the sprinters can get another opportunity if they have the legs.

Today, only one categorized climb is scheduled, which is situated in the beginning of the stage. In the end, the riders will cover a local lap before they reach the finish line.

Jürgen Roelandts is participating in his first Giro d’Italia and he can play an important role today by being the lead-out for sprinter André Greipel.

“It’s true that I’m an ‘old’ debutant in this year’s Giro," he said. "I really wanted to participate in this race, in the past I always rode the Tour of Belgium. Besides that, it fits into my schedule. I want to be in good shape in the Tour de Suisse and in the road race at the Belgian Championship.

"In the Giro, I try to help André Greipel as well as I can and perhaps there will be opportunities for me as well. In today’s stage, it will depend on how many riders will be part of the break whether it will be a bunch sprint or not.”
