Although an atmosphere of uncertainty surrounds the Saxo – Tinkoff team before the final press conference scheduled for Monday at Google headquarters in London, when the future of the Danish squad managed by Bjarne Riis should be decided, Australian rider Michael Rogers remains the voice of optimism.

The Australian believes, that although the team lacked spectacular individual victories throughout the 2013 season, they managed to prove their strength as a collective and are able to build up on this in the future.

" The Tour de France was the best experience of the season for the team because we show our collective strength to win the general classification ," Rogers told in the interview for Saxo – Tinkoff official website, not denying that the final outcome in overall standings was considered a failure.

"For me the disappointment was staying outside the top 10 at the last minute."

Rogers claimed a single victory in 2013 in the final race of the year, the Japan Cup. Earlier this season he performed well  at the Tour of California with a 2nd place in overall, and the Critérium du Dauphiné , with a 6th place .

"This season has been positive in the context of building the team 's great atmosphere, and we had fun . For 2014 I will be more competitive during one-week races and I will play the supporting role to Alberto [ Contador ] in the fight for the overall at the Tour de France. But now I just want to enjoy time with my three daughters and my wife. "
