The Ronde van Zeeland Seaports will, in 2015, be held on Saturday 21st March. The round will be held in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen as a whole, with the start and finish line in Terneuzen, and has eleven cobbled sections included in the course.
The organization hopes to attract WorldTour teams to add the race to their schedule for 2015. "Our Ronde can be an excellent preparation for the cobblestone-stage recorded this year in the Tour de France. After we have gone through the Westerschelde in 2014, the idea arose in 2015 to include a special object on the route, and thereby the Sluiskil tunnel came (under construction) in the picture."
Both the consortium of Sluiskil Tunnel, BAM-TBI, and the management of the Sluiskil Tunnel, BV KKS, are positive about this request. Provided that all safety precautions are observed by the organization of the race, it is no problem for the official opening of the Sluiskil tunnel, make use of a professional cycling race after two months. For the management of the tunnel is a great opportunity to increase awareness of the tunnel under construction.
Theo Bos of Belkin won the 2014 edition in a bunch sprint.
