Roompot Orange Peloton has received the permission from UCI to stay in the pro peloton next season. The International Cycling Union confirmed last week that the application procedure for a license at ProContinental level has been successfully completed. The team has met all financial, organizational, technical and ethical requirements.
"This is yet another important step for our young organization," team manager Michael Zijlaard says. "The experience we gained last year in out contacts with the UCI have obviously helped us in applying for this. That is a compliment for our colleague Henk Schipper, who has been an important part of this process. The positive reaction from Aigle indicates that we have things under control and that there is confidence is in our project."
Also in 2016 Roompot Orange Platoon will be the only Dutch team at Pro Continental level. The UCI also granted 16 other international teams the license for the so-called second division of the pro peloton. Six teams will have to appear before the License Commission. The same applies to seven teams that want to compete in the World Tour.
