The main focus was logically on the Amstel Gold Race, but in Brittany a Roompot Orange Peloton rider also performed well in a special race. Berden de Vries completed a strong day in Tro Bro Leon with a 10th place.
The Durtchman was very active in the UCI 1.1 race in Brittany. He was part of many escapes and for more than half of the 204-kilometer race in the "Coupe de France" he was part of the lead group. Eventually De Vries finished 10th .
"And I'm very pleased with it," he said. "This is really a tough race, with more than 35 kilometers of gravel roads. Moreover, it was much hillier than the profile suggested. Unfortunately, I got cramps in the finale, so I had to let the best go. But that's not a shame if you have been active all day."
Frenchman Alexandre Geniez won the race that can is similar to Strade Bianche in Tuscany. Raymond Kreder was 16th in a race where only 32 riders finished.
"That says enough about the toughness of this race," said team manager Jean-Paul van Poppel. "For us it was a pretty good day. With an eminent De Vries and again a good Raymond Kreder. It was a pity that Dylan Groenewegen punctured three times and had to abandon. This is perhaps not a very well-known race but it is really good. "
