Roompot Orange Cycling team leaders Erik Breukink and Jean-Paul van Poppel were invited by ASO to attend the route presentation of the 2015 Tour de France. Although the chance of a wild card for the world's premier cycling race is extremely small, the team doesn’t want to rule anything out according to the team management.
In the French capital there was also some talks with the race organization about the calendar, Breukink confirmed to WielerFlits. "The ASO (organizer Tour de France, ed) organizes more than just the Tour de France. It starts early in the season with Tours of Qatar and Oman. We would like to start in those races, including Paris-Nice," said Breukink. "It is important to show here," added Van Poppel.
The new Dutch team is guaranteed entry into one ASO organized race: a Dutch race called the World Ports Classic. "An entry for the World Ports Classics will not be such a problem," said Breukink convincingly. The team management is hoping that in the next few weeks they will know if they have gotten into any of the races and will know more about their calendars.
