The hard race of Gent-Wevelgem probably played a role in the Driedaagse de Panne. Roompot Oranje Peloton had an anonymous role in the race but improved on the final day. Raymond Kreder took 6th in the first of two stages (3a) in a stage which was won by Alexander Kristoff.
“It was a short time for these young riders to recover after hard races in Gent-Wevelgem and E3-Harelbeke, so not all of them were completely fit,” team manager Erik Breukink said to the Roompot website.
“When there is a group of 12 riders that rides away from the peloton, we simply just have to be a part of it. A missed opportunity, especially because it was a job we need to do. Fortunately, we had a great final sprint which was well-prepared.”
The sprint saw a battle between Andre Greipeloand the winner from the last two days, Alexander Kristoff. For the third consecutive time, Kristoff finished first. Kreder was 6th with team-mate Groenewegen right behind in 7th.
In the GC, Raymond Kreder was the best Roompot rider in 29th.
