Roompot - Orange Peloton, the employer of Michael Boogerd, has reacted with disappointment to the decision of the UCI to suspend Michael Boogerd for two years. Team Manger Michael Zijlaard tells NOS: "Yes, we are disappointed, but it does not really come as a surprise. We always knew this was still ongoing."
Roompot will continue to exist. "When the four of us (Boogerd, Breukink, Van Poppel and Zijlaard ed.) spoke with sponsors, we always played with open cards."
Zijlaard regrets the suspension of Boogerd: "As co-initiator of our project, Michael was of great value in guiding young Dutch riders so they were able to make their dream come true. His negative past experiences have just been a motivation to allow our riders do their sport with passion and conviction."
