Anthony Roux showed his great uphill sprinting skills when he finished fourth in today's second stage of the Tour de Wallonie. Actually, the Frenchman didn't plan to do the sprint as he felt pretty fatugued but his teammate Yoann Offredo convinced him to give it a go.
As a solid climber with a fast sprint, Anthony Roux has all the skills to shine in the Tour de Wallonie and he is free to play his card on the FDJ team. Today he proved that he is up for the challenge when he sprinted to fourth in the second stage of the race.
"Today I didn't plan to take part in the sprint," he told Directvelo. "In fact I had spent a lot of energy throughout the day. I was not comfortable going downhill. But Yoann Offredo brought me to the 500m mark. The freshness was not there and I finished as best I could. Everyone maintained their place.
"This uphill finish in Neufchâteau suits me well. I knew a little about the place. My in-laws live 100km away and occasionally I visit the region.
