For the first time of this season, the reigning world champion Rui Costa will hit the roads. Together with the rest of the Lampre-Merida team, he will make his debut in the Dubai Tour.
The Dubai Tour will be driven for the first on February the 5th with the first stage. Together with Filippo Pozzato, Niccolo Bonifazio, Davide Cimolai, Luca Dodi, Roberto Ferrari, Nelson Oliveira and Andrea Palini, Rui Costa will definitely make a strong appearance at the race.
Rui Costa is happy to be the first world champion to ride the Dubai Tour and thinks that the cycling is on its way all around the world.
“I'm proud to race in this new event of world cycling being the world champion,” Rui Costa explained, “We're opening the edges of the cycling to new frontiers, it's good to be here for the debut on my new team. I spent the winter training in order to be ready for this season.”
The stage is settled for a sprint race and the captains of the team will be Filippo Pozzato, Davide Cimolai and Roberto Ferrari. The team will be looking forward to see how the two newcomers Niccolo Bonifazio and Nelson Oliveira will manage their new roles.
The Dubai Tour will start on February the 5th and ends on February the 8th.
