While defending champion Elia Viviani is racing in Colorado, Fabio Sabatini will be leading Cannondale in tomorrow's Arnhem-Veenendal Classic. The Italian will be back in the captaincy role in Sunday's Vattenfall Cyclassics where he will join forces with Moreno Moser.
In addition to racing in the United States and Spain, Cannondale Pro Cycling will also have athletes competing in the Netherlands and Germany in the coming days. On August 22, the Green Machine will attend the Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic, a 195.7km race across the Netherlands. On August, 24, the team will move on to the Vattenfall Cyclassics, a UCI World Tour event that covers more than 200km in Hamburg, Germany.
These two road races are traditionally a target for fast riders. In 2013, Green Machine sprinter Elia Viviani claimed a great victory, winning the bunch sprint at the Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic. Although Viviani won’t be in attendance at this race for a repeat performance, Cannondale Pro Cycling is ready to fight for a great result at both races with a well-equipped team.
The selection of riders attending Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic includes Fabio Sabatini as the team’s main sprinter; as well as Kristijan Koren, Marco Marcato, and Alberto Bettiol who are all strong contenders for small group arrivals. Davide Villella, Jean-Marc Marino, and Juraj Sagan will be on-hand for support and set the tone of the race.
For the Vattenfall Cyclassics, Cannondale Pro Cycling will present again the seven riders engaged in Netherland adding Moreno Moser. The Italian rider comes to the event after Tour de Pologne and Eneco Tour – his finisseur attitudes will be an important option to play in the finale.
The team will be led in both races by team director Gilles Pauchard.
