For the first time in this year's Vuelta a Espana, Peter Sagan showed himself when he fought with the best in the crosswinds in stage 8 of the Vuelta a Espana. Reiterating that his main goal is to build condition for the world championships, the Slovakian doesn't rule out to try his hand in a stage later in the race.
Peter Sagan has done nothing to hide that he is at the Vuelta a Espana to prepare for the World Championships. Until today, he had shown no interest of chasing a personal result but today he have it his first go when he finished 3rd in the windy stage 8.
“I’ve looked at racing always in the first positions because I had the feeling it could be a difficult finale," he said "It was my goal to try. I know that my condition isn’t at the top and some sprinters on the other hand are in a great state of form. At least I’ve tried and I’m pleased with that.
“After seven stages of efforts, today I was starting to feel good, and I wanted to test myself in the sprint. I’m satisfied for this third place, my condition is improving, and this is the most important thing for me now.
"My goal is to improve my condition for the world championship. We’ll see on the way to Santiago di Compostela if there are other opportunities for a stage win.”
