The Grand Départ of the 100th edition of the Tour de France is approaching and Cannondale Pro Cycling unveiled the riders chosen to attend the race from June 29 earlier today.
To the astonishment of nobody, Slovakian Peter Sagan, green jersey in 2012 and winner of three stages at his debut at the Tour, will be the leader of the team. His goal, well known since the beginning of the season, is to try to conquer the points classification again and be one of the stars of the race. Italian talent Moreno Moser will be the second point of reference for Cannondale Pro Cycling. At his personal debut in a grand tour, Moser will race at the side of Sagan free to target stage wins.
To support team's ambitions Directeurs Sportif Stefano Zanatta and Mario Scirea, technical guides in France with Paolo Slongo, chose seven riders able to guarantee experience, reliability and good form: Polish Maciej Bodnar, Slovenian Kristijan Koren, Italians Alessandro De Marchi, Alan Marangoni and Fabio Sabatini, American Ted King and Dane Brian Vandborg. For Moser, De Marchi, Marangoni and King this year’s Tour is their first time on the road of the Grande Boucle.
"This team is the ideal one to target our goals at the Tour" affirmed DS Zanatta. "A talented rider such as Sagan deserves to be supported in the best way. He prepared this event with great commitment and accuracy: his wish to win the green jersey is our wish. To be competitive in the stages suited for us is another of our prerogatives. Peter has accustomed us to the actions and expectations of a champion but Moser also has the right characteristics to leave his mark. We're really confided in his quality and we just ask him to do his best. His growth will be our third target at this Tour de France."
