After the cobblestones of Harelbeke and Gent-Wevelgem, Cannondale will face the third event in their Flemish campaign, the VDK-Driedaagse De Panne, on Tuesday. The stages will typically serve as the perfect build up to the Ronde, the Tour of Flanders, especially for Sagan.
“We have the chance to continue this string of good performances,” explained Directeur Sportif Stefano Zanatta, who will lead the team with Biagio Conte. “Three stages on cobblestones will be useful to not lose the rhythm and the confidence in view of the main event. Sagan will have to pay attention and not risk too much, but the rest of the team and Viviani especially will aim to be active.”
Other than Sagan and Viviani, Cannondale Pro Cycling will include almost the entire team from the previous races: Maciej Bodnar, Mauro Da Dalto, Ted King, Kristijan Koren and Alan Marangoni. The only change is Fabio Sabatini, who will be substituted with Canadian sprinter Guillaume Boivin.
