After a month of training in the USA, Peter Sagan is ready to make his return to competition in the Tour de Suisse which starts tomorrow. For the third year in a row, the Slovakian will use the race as his final preparation for the Tour de France and he hopes to add to the 8 stage victories he has taken over the last three years.

Cannondale Pro Cycling will attend the Tour de Suisse from June 14th through June 22nd the UCI's 17th World Tour event of the season. The race will start in Bellinzona with a 9.4 km ITT and finish in in Saas-Fee (HC summit finish). With a total of nine stages, the Tour de Suisse will be a key event in June for the Green Machine to enhance the team's balance and preparation in view of the upcoming Tour de France.

This will mark the return to action for Slovakian champion Peter Sagan after almost one month of training. The Tour of California was his last race, where he won a stage and a fifth consecutive Green Jersey.  The month of training for Sagan focused on conditioning and preparation especially for the Tour de France to chase stage victories and the Green Jersey.

"I feel good and ready to beback in competition" said Sagan. "I know how hard and important the next months will be, and this is why I chose to stay in the US to recharge the batteries. I needed a few weeks for specific training and to relax my mind. But now it's time to focus on the races - and I'm really motivated."

Sagan's performances at the Tour de Suisse have always been very successful - two stage wins in 2011, four in 2012 and two in 2013.

"I always considered the Tour de Suisse as one of the most indicative tests in view of the Tour de France," said Sagan. "The race includes many mixed stages with routes suited for my characteristics. This is the best way to push hard and to see the response of my legs. Of course I like to win, and this is also the best way to gain confidence. I'll try to follow the same steps this year - I'll see day by day which are the best chances."

"Every year becomes more challenging for me, but my goals are still the same. In Switzerland it will be important to have good feeling and to take good results, in France I'll chase the green jersey and stage wins. Between these two events I'll race the National championship, another important race in my schedule," added Sagan.

Together with Sagan, the Cannondale Pro Cycling team roster for the Tour du Suisse includes  Moreno Moser, who will hunt a stage win after an up-and-down performance at the Giro d'Italia; additional team riders are the promising climber Davide Formolo, as well as Ted King, Guillaume Boivin, Daniele Ratto, Fabio Sabatini and Cristiano Salerno. Dario Mariuzzo and Mario Scirea will be the two team directors in charge to lead the riders.
