Peter Sagan wants to win a monument and the Tinkoff-Saxo have assembled a solid block of riders around him. This year his progress stalled a bit but at just 24 years of age, he has lots of time. Now he is confidence that he will take another step under the guidance of Oleg Tinkov and Bjarne Riis.
Alongside Alberto Contador and Rafal Majka, Peter Sagan attended the presentation of the yellow team kit in Moscow. He is pleased to find himself in new surroundings after four years at Cannondale. "Tinkoff-Saxo is not only the best team in terms of technology. Oleg (Tinkov) unites us and gives us the opportunity to grow and that inspires us to go further. The team has a great moral and strong team spirit. We are confident that we will be unbeatable in the new season," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
In 2014, Sagan won just seven races, a stage in Oman, one in Tirreno-Adriatico, the E3 Harelbeke classic, a stage in De Panne, a stage in the Tour of California, a stage in the Tour de Suisse and the Slovakian road race championships. He finished second 10 times and was third on another six occasions. He failed to win a stage in the Tour de France but again won the points competition. In the classics, he was 1st in E3, 2nd in Strade Bianche, 3rd in Gent-Wevelgem, 6th in Paris-Roubaix, 10th in Milan-San Remo and 16th in the Tour of Flanders.
Last year he rook 22 wins and was second in Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders. In 2012, he won 16 races and in 2011 he reached 15 wins.
