Salvatore Puccio, the Team Sky rider, finished his third season in the peloton. The Italian told in a press release about his season. He relates that his best moment was to ride Milano-San Remo this year.
"This year has been great but it's also been a long season for me, especially for someone who did all the Classics. I rode a lot of races and gained more experience. I was quite tired by the end of the year so I’m looking forward to this winter so I can recover and get ready for next season."
"I’m happy with how the first part of the year went – I definitely showed some improvement and was able to be up there in the front group and at the end of the races", he added on the Team Sky website.
He finished 12th at the Milano-Sanremo, in the same time that the winner, Alexander Kristoff (Katyusha Team): "The biggest moment for me was Milan-San Remo. I felt very strong in the final part of the race and I was able to help Ben (Swift). 12th place in such a big, historical race was also a nice result for me. One week before that I rode well at Strade Bianche too. Contrast how you felt at a race like Milan-San Remo this year, compared to as a neo-pro in 2012."
"Back in 2012 I had a late call up and I was very nervous. Now I certainly feel less tense. Every year gives you more experience. You get to know the team and the riders in the peloton. I’m more experienced and it’s totally different to how I felt in 2012 and how nervous I was back then."
In 2015, he will focus on classic races : "I want to start the season well and I’m really focused on the period up to and including Flanders. I want to get some results for me and for the team. After three years, going into my fourth season, it’s important to get some results. That will help me keep developing and it’s good for your mentality, your confidence and also training."
