Samuel Sanchez, not retained by BMC Racing Team, is without a contract for next season. Georges Luchinger, the spokesman of the Spanish rider said that the rider took himself the decision not to run in 2015 for the US team. “Samuel decided to not stay and we respect this,” he explained according to CyclingTips.
Many days ago, the 2008 Olympic road race champion seemed ready to extend with BMC. “In BMC they are pleased with me and I with them. I’ve adapted very well and I have made new friends, which is always important,” he told Ciclo21.com.
“I have contributed significantly to the victories of Gilbert in Amstel Gold Race, the ZLM Toer and now in China. In all of those I was helping. We are second in the WorldTour for teams so it has been a good year.”
Now, so we know he will not roll for the BMC. Will he retire or has he found a team? That's the question everyone is asking. “I’m rested, relaxed and without worry about next year. It is nothing like the situation in the past when the Euskaltel-Euskadi team disappeared and it was very hard.”
“Any decision will be made by me. If I want to keep riding I will because I have a place, and if I do not I will take other decisions, but I have not thought of anything yet.“
The Spanish rider added: “My agent was in Japan at the Saitama Criterium and I will talk to him on his return.”
