Samuel Sanchez continues his search for new team in 2014, as he says in an interview on Television Espanola.

After 14 seasons in Euskaltel-Euskadi, Sanchez finds himself temporary out of job after the Basque-based team ceased to exist. The Spanish rider believes that he "still has a lot to give to cycling". The Beijing Olympic champion thinks that he's still possible to get a podium place in Tour de France or Vuelta a Espana. Or a rainbow jersey in Ponferrada, Spain, in 2014, "Winning a gold in the Olympics and wear a rainbow in your home country would be incredible."

As a result, Sanchez does put emphasis on economic aspects of the possible offers. "Right now I'm looking for a team. There are more sports-only offers than economic offers." he admits. As all know, the whole economy situation in cycling is not good, and a lot of riders has to take huge pay cuts. For example, De Gendt accept a new offer worth one-fifth of his old one. Samuel Sanchez might have to take one too.

Multiple reports linked the Olympic champion to Tinkoff-Saxo. Sanchez is positive on the move, but nothing is confirmed, "Alberto Contador is the best rider of the last decade. Who would not want to be a teammate of one of the best cyclists in recent years, not to say we're already friends."

Also there's talks on Sanchez and the Alonso project, which will possibly come through in 2015. Fernando Alonso, two-time F1 world champion, tried to take over the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, but ultimately failed. "On the breakdown of negotiations between the group of Fernando and Euskaltel-Euskadi, what I can say is what you already read in the press. They will build an entirely new project and start from scratch, which will start to work in 2015." says Sanchez, who's also positive on joining the Alonso Team, "And why not finish my career in the team, I would then join Fernando and an exciting project . Fernando wants to do it in a different and special way and he always welcomes a cycling team."
