Luis Leon Sanchez defended his lead in the mountains jersey on stage 19 of the Vuelta a Espana and now only faces in big stage before he can be crowned overall winner of the competition. However, he doesn't expect to have too much influrence on the outcome.
Luis Leon Sanchez goes into the finale mountain stage of the Vuelta a Espana with a comfortable lea in the mountains competition. To relegate the Spaniard into second, Alejandro Valverde and Alberto Contador needs to score points on more than one climb in the final mountain stage which is unlikely to happen.
Sanchez knows that his overall chances will more depend on his rivals than on himself.
“It wasn’t a quiet stage today as it doesn’t exist at the Vuelta this year but it’s been a quiet day as far as the polka dot jersey defense is concerned," he said. "Keeping this jersey till the end depends more on how Alejandro and Alberto will ride tomorrow than myself. We’re at the end of the Vuelta and I’m tired. But everyone is.”
