Many people were surprised when BMC announced on 25 January that they had re-signed Samuel Sanchez after the comments throughout the winter that he was demanding too much money and that they couldn’t take him on for another year.
He spoke to Dorsal51 about his new deal with the WorldTour team, with whom he achieved fifth in the Tour of Lombardy and sixth in the Vuelta a Espana.
"When the sporting and financial offer is irresistible, everything is easier," he says. "I would not say it's been a hard winter in uncertainty," he continues, "I have been clear, my first choice would always be BMC but it took a lot for one thing or another. In the end the team and Jim Ochowicz have behaved great with me."
But leaving that winter, Samuel Sanchez is already immersed in the season and with his new teammates from last week: "Arriving at the camp in Denia was emotional. All the team hugged me and they kept giving me the congratulations on being back in BMC".
Without speaking clearly targets for 2015, because "there are always new challenges, goals and dreams, but the first thing is to be healthy and go after them slowly," Samuel unveils to Dorsal51 the beginning of calendar with BMC, "is not going to vary too much with last year. I'll do the Strade Bianche, Catalonia, Basque Country and Ardennes Classics".
