Samuel Sanchez (1978) has almost finalized his schedule for next season, the third in a row with the BMC Racing Team. The main question is whether he will do the Tour de France.
Sanchez is currently training in Tenerife and will then join BMC for their training camp in Denia. From the Spanish island he has published a video on Pedaleando por Canarias in which he outlines what will be his 16th season.
The Spaniard confirms that he has an" almost final" program that involves "a classic calendar and races that both the team and I know that I can do well in."
Unsurprisingly, he will do the Volta a Catalunya, his beloved Tour of the Basque Country and the Ardennes classics. The second part depends on whether he will ride the Tour de France. "I have to give some thought to whether or not I go to the Tour, it's my decision," he says, with the Tour of California and the Tour of Switzerland forming an alternative path. The Vuelta a Espana is also on his schedule.
Calendar:
Vuelta a Murcia (February 13), Clasica de Almeria (February 14), Vuelta a Andalusia (February 17-21), Volta a Catalunya (March 21-27), Tour of the Basque Country (April 4-9), Amstel Gold Race (April 17), Fleche Wallonne (April 20), Liege-Bastogne-Liege (April 24), Tour de France (July 2-24), or Tour of California (May 15-22) and Tour of Switzerland (11-19 June), Vuelta a Burgos (August 2-6) and Vuelta a Espana (August 20-September 11).
In 2015 he was second in the Tour of Yorkshire and did the Tour de France where he was 12th before he had to leave the Vuelta a Espana due to an infection in a fingernail .
