Astana Pro Team has announced a contract extension with Michele Scarponi.
The Italian rider will stay with Kazakh team for one more season.
“Scarponi is a very strong and reliable domestique. He made an incredible job at the last Giro d’Italia. We are very glad to sign this contract. We hope that during the next season he will continue to work for team leaders as well as he did before," commented general manager Alexandr Vinokurov.
“When Alexandr Vinokourov asked me to stay with Astana for another year I was very flattered because it means that in recent years I have worked well and I have helped to reach big victories. In 2017 it will be my fifteenth season among the professionals and so I think I can continue to give my experience to the young talents of the team and, why not, point to some personal success," said Michele Scarponi.
The 2011 Giro d'Italia winner was born in September 25, 1979. Duringhis long carer, theItalian rider has won the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, Tirreno-Adriatico, Giro del Trentino and other races.
