2014 was the comeback season for Frank Schleck after his one-year ban but the Luxembourger was unable to return to his former level. In 2015 he expects to benefit from the fact that he now has a full season in his legs.
Even though he will no longer have his brother Andy at his side, Frank Schleck remains motivated after a difficult first year back in the peloton after his doping ban. This season, he had a long season from the Tour Down Under in January to Il Lombardia in October but he only managed to win one race: his national championships.
"I can be happy with my year, my season has been long since I started in the Tour Down Under in January and I finished in October at the Tour of Lombardy," Schleck told Wort. "But I have to admit that the return to competition was the most difficult. It is not easy to digest a year without riding. For this season, I will benefit from the work I have done in the 2014 season. This gives me confidence. "
In 2015, Frank Schleck won't return to the Tour Down Under. He will start his season on February 15 at the Clasica de Almeria on February 15 and will then be at the start of Ruta del Sol, Paris-Nice, Criterium International, the Tour of the Basque Country and the Ardennes classics which are his first main goal of the season.
Next year will be a another difficult one for Schleck after the retirement of his brother.
"All riders and staff are asking me about Andy so that does not make it easy," he told Wort. "The team has lost Andy. He has a very special character and isvery friendly. He is funny and loved by everyone. So of course the team misses a rider like him."
"The podiums we had together," he said when asked about his best memories with his broher. "One nation, two brothers, and both on the podium as second and third in Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Tour de France. No one can ever take that away from us."
