Cannondale Pro Cycling directeur sportif, Dario Mariuzzo, is cautiously optimistic ahead of the GP of Camaiore following Sagan’s health problems and the cancellation of the GP of Lugano.
While Sagan has been suffering from bronchitis, the GP of Camaiore will be the season debut for Moreno Moser and Damiano Caruso. After the cancellation of the GP of Lugano on Sunday, both athletes had to postpone their first race until Thursday. Moser and Caruso will toe the start line after 15 days of altitude training, which ended on February 21.
“We have important riders with characteristics suited for Camaiore’s route,” explained Mariuzzo. “What we don’t know is how competitive Sagan, Moser and Caruso can be. Their lack of racing could be decisive in the final phases of the race: we will do our best to arrive at the moment and be able to play our cards.”
