After Francis De Greef (30), Björn Leukemans (38) and Kristof Vandewalle (30), Kevin Seeldraeyers (29) is the next Belgian to end his career. The former QuickStep rider has been unable to find a new team. He is now going to work as a technician at Telenet.

In 2015 Kevin Seeldraeyers rode forf or the Turkish team Torku-Şekerspor A.Ş., but received no new contract. His search for a new team yielded nothing.

"It's a pity," Seeldraeyers told Sporza. "I had a number of contacts with teams, but the proposals were not of a nature that made me accept them.

"I have to continued to train, but now we're in late December. It's too late to find another team. I have no hope."

"My reputation has worked against me," Seeldraeyers added. "I've been sick a lot in recent years and never really found a reason.

"Last summer we found out that I suffer from exercise-induced asthma. I am undergoing treatment and I could continue for a few more years but apparently the teams don't think so."

In 2009 Kevin Seeldraeyers  won the white jersey as best young rider in the Giro. He was 14th overall but due to all kinds of suspensions he is now officially tenth in the final standings of the 2009 Giro d'Italia.

That year he was also seventh and best young rider in Paris-Nice and was regarded as a big climbing talent.

Seeldraeyers spent several years at Patrick Lefevere's Quick-Step team(2007-2011), then two years at Astana and in 2014 he rode for Wanty-Groupe Gobert.

At the end of 2014 he moved to the Turkish Torku Şekerspor A.Ş. hoping to relaunch his career.

Kevin Seeldraeyers will now start a new career. In February he will start to work as a technician at Telenet.
