As it was announced earlier this month, former Euskaltel-Euskadi rider Alexander Serebryakov has been banned for 4 years in the EPO case, by the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
The 26-year old Russian tested positive in the out of competition control taken on March 18, during his preparations prior to Paris-Rubaix.
The positive blood-test result from March encouraged to put Serebryakov under further scrutiny, and it turned out that 26-year old Russian was using illegal doping methods also earlier that season, while a previous sample taken February 21 was tested using a new analytical method, and this testalso showed evidence of EPO use.
During his short career Serebryakov rode for Type 1 – SANOFI before he joined Euskaltel for 2013, and in those years he managed to claim 10 professional victories, including stages won at the Tour of Heinan, Tour of China or Tour of Taihu Lake.
Serebryakov's suspension began upon his notification of the first positive on April 5, 2013, and will run through 2017
