This season, Sergey Ţvetcov did a good season. The Jelly Kelly powered by Maxxis rider finished 3rd at the USA Pro Challenge behind the Americans Tejay van Garderen (BMC Racing Team) and Tom Danielson (Garmin Sharp). With his results, several teams are interested in him. Between all these teams, he decided to join Androni Giocattoli with whom he will ride the major European races and maybe the Giro di Italia.
For the moment, he takes advantage of his American life before moving to Europe. "I am great, enjoying great view in Colorado. During the winter i try to rest mentality but push myself physically.(doing Gym, Sauna, Jacuzzi and short rides up to my hill)", he told Cyclingquotes. Not well known in Europe, he did a lot of races in the United States: "In 2010, I moved in US. Before, I did some east Europe races with my last Europe Team: Cycling Tusnad Team. In 2009, I had a chance to win Green Card Lottery and become US resident for one year."
"The 2014 Season probably was the best in all conditions. In the first part of season, I had a lot of crashes, but when I started 2nd part of season, I was in better form. During the winter 2013, I was already focus and prepare for 2nd part of year. During my five last seasons, the best form was start at the end of may."
And he did good performances. In May, during the Tour de Beauce (2.2), he finished third and will not pass away from victory in the individual time trial. In August, he showed that he possesses qualities of climbers. He finishes 16th and a few days later, he did better at the USA Pro Challenge (2.HC). He finished on the podium.
He won only one stage this season, it was in Canada. "In Tour of Gila, I won the time trial. But before this race, I focused for general classification. I was involved in the crash. But I was happy with the stage win."
A few weeks ago, we learned that he has engaged with Androni Giocattoli. "When my agent Baden Cooke received all offers, we started to think about my future in cycling in Europe. I had offers, even from World Tour teams, but we decided come step by step. I decided to join one of the best team in Continental Pro: Androni Giocattoli. I met the general manager Gianni Savio, the sport director Giovanni Ellena and the mechanic staff during the last World Championship, in Ponferrada. About the riders, I know just from news and when we ride together during the races, not personally."
"Now, I am trying to focus on my moral. I know that there are very big difference with weather, roads and style of the races in Europe and in US. But I am ready, I am not super young and I believe in myself and what I can do."
"Officially, I dont know my calendar yet. But I know that I will start my season in January. I will ride the Tour of San Luis, in Argentina. I have already discuss with my coach, Sergey Checkhovskii. We will try to focus in order to be in tip-top condition in April-May. I want to be at the departure of the Giro di Italia or any Europe races. Every this races are attractive and beautiful."
A few years ago, he changed his nationality. The Moldavian rider became roumanian. "Its not a secret. Romania has better conditions and programme for Olympic Games. I am trust with the new president of Romania Cycling Federation, Eduard Novak. We will have a bright future in couple years."
