Marcel Sieberg will not be in action at the World Championships in Doha (Qatar). The rider from Lotto Soudal is ill. It is a huge loss for the German team and leader André Greipel but luckily the team has a reserve.
Germany had in fact selected seven riders while only six riders can take the start. Besides Greipel, Marcel Kittel, John Degenkolb, Tony Martin, Jasha Sütterlin and Nils Politt will line up for one of the favourite teams.
"For the World Cup you have to be 100% fit. And I'm certainly not," Sieberg writes on Twitter. He had even packed his suitcase.
