On Sunday Sven Nys will participate in the first World Cup of the season in the Dutch city of Valkenburg. "My vestibular system was disturbed," he told Sporza after not having participated in the Kermiscross in Ardooie.

Sven Nys withdrew from the race three hours before the start.

"A momentary disruption of my vestibular system," he was told by the doctor. "Everything okay for Sunday!" the 38-year-old cross rider tweeted.

On Sunday Nys will be at the start of the first World Cup race of the season. Last year he had an unlucky day in Valkenburg. When his chain fell off on the slopes of the Cauberg, he threw in the towel in the race that was won by eventual overall winner Lars van der Haar.
