Russian rider of Team Katusha Egor Silin took 8th place atop the Drobatsch climb which ended the 4th stage of the Tour of Austria (Stift Rein – Drobatsch, 210,2 km). This stage was the first mountain stage of this Austrian tour. At the finish Silin lost 46 seconds to stage winner Victor De La Parte from Team Vorarlberg, who outsprinted Jan Hirt from CCC Sprandi Polkowice.
Third place 8 seconds later went to Ben Hermans from BMC. The yellow jersey is now on the shoulders of Jan Hirt.
"In general we can be satisfied with the stage. The team did a good race, we tried to control the situation in front of the peloton, while in the last climb we did everything possible to support Egor Silin. The leading group stayed together for most of the final climb, while the decisive attacks started with only a few km to go. Egor finished 8th, not a bad result at all, but the queen stage is still ahead," said Team Katusha sports director Gennady Mikhaylov.
In general classification Egor Silin is 8th, 38 seconds behind Hirt.
Tomorrow it is the 5th stage of the Tour of Austria – 175 km from Faaker See/Drobollach to Matrei in Osttirol.
