Six riders from Team Giant-Alpecin have been hit by a vehicle this afternoon in Alicante and one of them is in serious condition, according to initial reports.
A vehicle, driven by a British citizen as confirmed by the emergency services of Valencia, reportedly invaded the opposite side of the road and hit the six riders from the WorldTour team. Their identities have not been disclosed although it is known that Warren Barguil is one of them. L1 has confirmed that Tom Dumoulin is not involved and journalist ThomasSijtsma reports that John Degenkolb is not the seriously injured rider.
The seriously injured rider had been airlifted to Hospital de Sant Joan while the rest is at Denia Hospital.
In a first information on Twitter, the Dutch team has confirmed that: "There was an accident in training today at our camp in Spain. Some riders Involved in the crash went to the hospital for a check. All riders are in stable condition right now. More details to follow."
Giant-Alpecin is staying at a hotel in Calpe and today had scheduled a "Media Day" which has been cancelled. been suspended. John Degenkolb, Tom Dumoulin and Warren Barguil are the three team leaders.

Six Team Giant-Alpecin riders were involved in a crash in training during the team training camp near Calpe, Spain, today. During the training ride, a car coming the other direction rode into the group of riders head on. The riders were riding side by side on their own side of the road.
The riders involved in the crash were Warren Barguil (FRA), John Degenkolb (GER), Chad Haga (USA), Fredrik Ludvigsson (SWE), Ramon Sinkeldam (NED) and Max Walscheid (GER).
All the riders involved in the crash went to two hospitals and all of them are in stable condition.
"Everyone on the team is in shock right now, and there are some major issues that we need to take care of, but we also realize that we have had some luck on our side," said team physician Anko Boelens (NED). "Everyone is conscious, stable and approachable, but we are waiting for the latest information and consult the doctors in those hospitals about the treatments needed for the riders."
