The 42nd Volta ao Algarve have already 15 teams confirmed for the race that will be held from the 17th to the 21st of February.

The British Team Sky and the Spanish Caja Rural-Seguros RGA are the most recent confirmations.

The Portuguese race have already confirmed nine WorldTour teams, including the best three in the 2015 ranking: Movistar, Team Katusha and Team Sky. The other six teams of the international cycling first division are Astana, Cannondale, Lotto Soudal, Lotto NL-Jumbo, Tinkoff and Trek Factory Racing.

At this moment, the organization of the Volta ao Algarve also confirm six teams from the Professional continental level: Bora-Argon 18, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, Novo Nordisk, Roth-Skoda, Rusvelo and Verva ActiveJet.

With the confirmation of Team Sky, Geraint Thomas will have a chance to defend his 2015 title in the Portuguese race where his teammate Richie Porte won the queen stage.
