New United Arab Emirates continental team Sky Dive Dubai has boosted its squad, acquiring Argentinian Lucas Sebastian Haedo and Spaniard veteran Francisco Mancebo, according to reports.
L.Haedo, younger brother of Saxo-Tinkoff sprinter JJ Haedo, is also a sprinter himself, although a much inferior one in terms of sprinting ability.
Francisco Mancebo, former Tour white-jersey winner and Vuelta podium finisher, is perhaps more famous for his involvement in the infamous Operacion Puerto than his ability on the bike. The Spaniard is still a decent climber after the scandal, albeit only in continental circuits. He was very active in UCI American Tour races, this year he got 7th overall in both Tour of California and Tour of Alberta.
The Sky Dive team previously accounced that it will start its inaugural season with as many as 6 riders from international selection, and other spots on this team will be filled by local UAE riders and other riders from Arabian countries. The spanish-speaking duo are the first two of the international ones, and the team will likely sign more. Previously the team was connected to Samuel Sanchez as well.
The team will focus on UCI Asia Tour for sure, with the newly organized Tour of Dubai one of their major targets.
