Dutch news agency AD.nl reports that Danny van Poppel has several WorldTour suitors, including re-signing with Trek, but has opted to leave brother Boy at Trek in favour of signing for Team Sky, who see him as a Classics rider.
The 22 year old Dutch sprinter is fast, winning a bunch sprint in the Vuelta this year, but Sky want to use him in the Classics, which he rode this year at Trek. Fifth in the Scheldeprijs was his best result, but he was also 45th in his debut Paris-Roubaix.
Sky are short of Classics riders after Bradley Wiggins retired and Geraint Thomas may change his focus to riding for Grand tour GCs. The team would provisionally be led in the spring by Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe and van Poppel.
