The 2015 WorldTour draws to a close with one of the oldest and most prestigious tests on the calendar at Il Lombardia.
'The Race of the Falling Leaves', known to many as the Tour of Lombardy, is the fifth and final monument classic of the year, with major bragging rights on the line among climbers and one-day specialists.
The race (October 4) takes in some of the most beautiful roads in Italy, including a stunning run along Lake Como. The conditions are not always kind and frequent wet weather can turn this late-season Classic into a war of attrition.
The race organisers have continued to alter the parcours in recent years, and have made changes again to make the route tougher for 2015. Reverting back to a run from Bergamo to Como, the overall length is slightly down on last year at 245km, yet the finale packs a greater punch.
Team Sky begin the race with a combination of riders who competed at Milano-Torino and Gran Piemonte earlier in the week. Ian Boswell, Sebastian Henao, Sergio Henao, Pete Kennaugh, Vasil Kiryienka, Leopold Konig, Mikel Nieve and Wout Poels will take the start.
Third place for Rigoberto Uran in atrocious conditions remains the team's best result in the race back in 2012.
