Tinkoff-Saxo’s Chris Anker Sørensen got 9th overall at Tour of Britain after the eight days of racing were concluded in London with a bunch sprint decision. Nikolay Trusov finished 14th in the final burst for the line behind Elia Viviani, who took the stage win, while Edvald Boasson Hagen claimed the overall victory.
“We moved up a place in the GC yesterday with Chris Anker Sørensen, which means that he finishes 9th overall. Chris has done a consistent effort, he has raced in an attentive fashion and his shape is on the incline prior to his next races. Overall, I’m satisfied with the team effort. We lacked a bit on the flat sprinter’s stages to get some top positions but I believe we can be fairly pleased with the result on the hillier stages”, says Nicki Sørensen, sports director of Tinkoff-Saxo.
The final short, 86.8km stage in London was won by Elia Vivian with Nikolay Trusov finishing 14th. About the general level at Tour of Britain, Nicki Sørensen says:
“We haven’t had a sprinter here at the race and the level of competition has been rather high with the likes of Viviani, Greipel and Cavendish. I’ve been satisfied with the commitment and we must now look ahead and try to build on that in the coming races”.
